Project Manager


Primary Purpose:

The primary role of the Project Manager is the timely and accurate execution of projects in accordance with the requested services specified in the customer contract. The contract may include amendments, addendum's and deviations to the original, and written or documented verbal approvals from the client.

Areas of Impact:

Achievement of DDL's financial goals; customer satisfaction; customer loyalty/retention.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

1. Start up and oversee multiple projects.
* Review the job file and contract upon receipt of project assignment for an understanding of requested services and the availability of lab resources for completion.
* Report the project's status to management during project status meetings, via project tracking.
2. Clearly communicate project details to lab technicians.
3. Communicate regularly with clients.
* Introduce him/herself as Project Manager to at least a new client prior to the start of testing of a client's project.
* Contact the customer when questions arise before, during or after testing and provide periodic status reports on testing.
4. Write the final letter of acknowledgment or test report.
* Develop the final letter of acknowledgment or test report.
* Provide letter/test report to review for accuracy and conformance to the contract.
* Obtain final approval of the letter/report to be sent to the client.
5. Document project steps and outcomes in the Project Tracking database and in the file.
* Review the active projects at least once weekly. Review real time projects at least once monthly.
* Have the proper documentation contained and organized within the file at all times, and project milestones entered in project tracking.
6. Perform tests on an as needed basis.
7. Arrange shipments back to the customer or to another facility for additional testing.
8. Assist the Lab Manager in ensuring that the lab is clean and well organized
9. Continually develop project management and professional skills by seeking out and completing continuing education classes, seminars and workshops.
10. Submit invoices for work completed in conjunction with the job file. Approve final invoices.
11. Contribute to the company's Quality program by actively participating in project teams, following through on quality initiatives, and carrying out project management in accordance with established procedures.
12. Contribute to other indirect items as directed by management.
13. Provide feedback to the lab technicians and the Lab Manager regarding the technician's performance on testing projects.
14. Contribute to indirect activities such as the quality system, sales/marketing support, etc., as directed.

Education and Experience:

Associate degree in an engineering program and at least 2 years related experience required.
Bachelor's Degree in engineering or the sciences preferred.

Certification, License, and Registration:

IOPP Certification, ISTA Certification and/or PMI Certification desired.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

Normal office environment with some exposure to moving machinery. Physical effort requires near, mid-range, and far vision, talking, seeing, and hearing; using computer keyboard, mouse, and screen 50-60% of the workday. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
